The rules for buying and using what we sell. Short, because there is not much to it: you buy a PDF, you own your copy, you do not resell it.
Who you are buying from
Bound Communications Inc., 141 Hodgdon Rd, Lower Woodstock, New Brunswick E7M 4L2, Canada. Contact ruth@howmuchshouldichargeforbabysitting.com.
Well Paid Babysitter is a brand name and Ruth is the name we write and sign under. Your contract is with Bound Communications Inc., which is the name that will appear on your card statement and on your receipt.
You have to be 18
You must be 18 or older to buy from us. If you are younger than that, ask a parent or guardian to buy it for you. This is not us being difficult: in most places a person under the age of majority cannot enter a binding contract, so a purchase made by a minor is not one we can properly honour.
The free rate calculator is open to anyone 13 or over and always will be.
What you are buying
| Product | Price | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| The Script | $47 | An 18 chapter guide delivered as a PDF |
| The Paperwork | $37 | Nine fillable PDF forms, offered as an optional add-on at checkout |
Prices are in US dollars. Any sales tax, GST, HST or VAT that applies where you live is calculated at checkout and shown to you before you pay, never added afterwards.
Delivery
Everything is digital and is delivered by email immediately after payment clears. If it has not arrived within an hour, check your spam folder and then email ruth@howmuchshouldichargeforbabysitting.com and we will send it again. There is nothing to ship and nothing to wait for.
Updates
The rate data in The Script is refreshed each year. Everyone who has bought it gets the new edition at no extra cost, sent to the email address used at purchase. We do not charge for updates and there is nothing to renew. If we ever stop producing updates we will say so rather than let it quietly lapse.
What you can do with it
You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use what you bought. In plain terms:
- Yes: read it, print it, fill in the forms, put your own name on the client-facing documents, and use them with the families you sit for, for as long as you like.
- Yes: keep using the documents if you later work under a business name of your own.
- No: resell it, give away copies, upload it anywhere, or share your download link.
- No: repackage the content into a course, template pack or product of your own.
- No: use it to train a machine learning model.
We own the copyright in the text, the documents and the design. You own everything you type into the forms.
Refunds
Sixty days, no questions, and you keep the files. The full policy is on the refunds page and it forms part of these terms.
What we do not promise
We tell you what the market pays and we give you the words to ask for it. We cannot promise a particular family will agree, that your income will rise by any specific amount, or that a rate that works in one town works in another. The rates we publish are researched estimates, not guarantees. See the disclaimers, which also form part of these terms.
Nothing here is professional advice
We are not lawyers, accountants or employment advisers. The guides and documents are templates and general information. They are not legal, tax or employment advice, and using them does not create a professional relationship of any kind. For anything that matters, talk to someone qualified where you live.
Liability
We stand behind the work, and the refund policy is how we do that. Beyond a refund of what you paid, and to the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the material. Nothing here limits liability for fraud or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.
If we need to change something
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one that was live on the day you bought. We will not change the refund promise retroactively.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of New Brunswick and the laws of Canada that apply there, and any dispute will be dealt with in the courts of New Brunswick. If you are a consumer somewhere that gives you stronger local rights, including anywhere in the United States, the European Union or the United Kingdom, you keep those rights and nothing here takes them away.
