This page explains what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to make us delete it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version. If you use the calculator we ask for your email so we can send you your rate card. If you buy something we take payment through a processor and keep a record of the sale. We run advertising on Meta, which means Meta can tell that you visited. We do not sell your information to anyone. You can have it deleted by emailing ruth@howmuchshouldichargeforbabysitting.com.
Who we are
Well Paid Babysitter is a brand of Bound Communications Inc., 141 Hodgdon Rd, Lower Woodstock, New Brunswick E7M 4L2, Canada. We are a Canadian company. For anything on this page, email ruth@howmuchshouldichargeforbabysitting.com.
About the name on our emails. We write and sign as Ruth. Ruth is the name of the voice this brand is written in, not a separate person you are dealing with, and there is no biography behind it. The company you are buying from and giving your email address to is Bound Communications Inc., and that is the name on every receipt.

Cookies and tracking
We use a small number of tracking tools:
- Analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count visits and see which pages work. It sets no cookie, assigns you no identifier, and does not follow you to other sites.
- The Meta pixel and Conversions API, so we can measure whether our ads are worth running and show them to people like you. This means Meta can associate your visit with your Facebook or Instagram account if you have one.
- Necessary cookies that keep the checkout working.
You can turn off personalised advertising in your Meta account settings, and you can block cookies in your browser. The calculator still works either way.
Who else sees your information
Only the companies that make this work, and only for that purpose:
- Kit, which stores your email address and sends you mail
- Stripe, which runs the checkout, takes the payment and holds the record of your order. We never see your card number
- Cloudflare Web Analytics and Meta, as described above
- Our web host, Cloudflare Pages, and Cloudflare, which also runs our DNS and forwards mail sent to our contact address
We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We do not share it with data brokers. We do not rent our email list.
Anyone under 18
This one matters more here than on most sites, because a lot of babysitters are teenagers.
- This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are under 13, please do not enter your email address.
- If you believe a child under 13 has given us their information, email ruth@howmuchshouldichargeforbabysitting.com and we will delete it promptly.
- Purchases must be made by someone 18 or older. If you are under 18 and want one of our guides, ask a parent or guardian to buy it.
- The free calculator is usable by teenagers and is meant to be. It does not require an email address to show you your rate.
How long we keep it
- Email addresses: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately.
- Purchase records: as long as we have to for tax and accounting, usually seven years.
- Analytics: aggregate counts only, held by Cloudflare for a rolling window of up to six months. We do not export, archive or extend it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can email ruth@howmuchshouldichargeforbabysitting.com and ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. We will do it within 30 days and we will not make you explain why.
Consent to email you
We only email people who asked us to. You give consent by entering your email address in the calculator or by buying something, and the box that asks for it says plainly what you are agreeing to. We are a Canadian sender, so this is express consent under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation, and every message we send carries the company name, the postal address above, and an unsubscribe link that works. Unsubscribes are actioned immediately and always within ten business days.
We do not buy lists, we do not email people who have not asked, and we do not treat a refund request or a support email as permission to add you to anything.
Where your information is stored
We are in Canada, but the companies we use to run this are mostly in the United States. Your email address, purchase record and usage data are stored and processed on servers outside Canada, which means they are subject to the laws of the country they sit in, including lawful access requests by courts and authorities there. This is normal for a business of this size and we would rather say it than bury it.
If you live in Canada
Under PIPEDA you can ask what personal information we hold about you, why we have it, and who we have given it to, and you can ask us to correct anything that is wrong. Email us and we will answer within 30 days at no charge. If you are not satisfied with how we handle it you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you are in Quebec, Law 25 gives you further rights including data portability, and you are welcome to exercise them the same way.
If you live in California
Under the CCPA and CPRA you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to have it deleted, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for asking. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you can still make any of the above requests.
If you live in the EU or UK
We process your email on the basis of your consent, which you gave when you entered it, and you can withdraw it at any time. Purchase records are processed to perform our contract with you. Analytics and advertising are processed on the basis of legitimate interests. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, and to complain to your data protection authority.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. We do not store card details at any point. Our email and cart platforms are established providers with their own security programs. No system is perfect, and if something goes wrong that affects you we will tell you.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters we will update the date at the top and, if you are on our email list, tell you.
